Section 1115 Waiver
The NYS Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver which has operated since 1997, has allowed the State to implement a managed care program which provides comprehensive and coordinated health care to Medicaid recipients, thereby improving their overall health coverage. In January 2024, a $7.5 billion, 3-year package was approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that bundles a series of actions to advance health equity and strengthen access to primary and behavioral health care across the state. This amendment will allow for further resources to be created, helping even more New Yorkers. For more information, check out the NYS 1115 Medicaid Waiver information page.
